Ben Foden scored as England swept to a 38-7 win over Super Rugby side Crusaders at AMI Stadium on Tuesday.
Foden, who plays fullback for his club Northampton Saints, started on the right wing and scored as Stuart Lancaster's men ran in six tries.
Following successive defeats to the All Blacks in the Auckland and Dunedin tests, the win will boost morale before the third test in Hamilton at the weekend.
After Joe Gray had given England the lead inside two minutes, Foden collected a kick from Alex Goode to score in the corner in the eighth minute.
Further tries from Goode, Anthony Watson and Chris Pennell wrapped up a comfortable win for the tourists.
Ex-Chester RUFC star Foden will be hoping his performance will be enough to earn him a place in the squad to face the All Blacks on Saturday.
Mike Brown is almost certain to start at fullback and Goode, next in line for the number 15 shirt, impressed against the Crusaders, but the 28-year-old could come under consideration for a wing spot.
Foden, who attended Bishop Heber High School in Malpas, was not considered for the first test owing to his club commitments and was not included in the squad for the second.
He had a fine 2013-14 season with Northampton, helping them win the Premiership title for the first time.
