ROCHDALE, who are at the top of South Lancashire/Cheshire One League, were much too strong for Widnes in this Lancashire Trophy second round clash.
The Heath Road side offered no excuses.
Rochdale dominated up front and their backs used the ball well and ran in some classy tries.
Richard Barraclough touched down for Widnes with Stu Hussey adding the goal.
But it was never going to be Widnes's day against a side they will hope to meet in North Two West next season provided that they retain their own lofty league position at the campaign's end.
