WINNINGTON Park and Northwich swing back into action on Saturday and both are planning to end the season on a high.

With the visit of second from bottom Rossendale in Power-gen North Two West on Saturday, Winnington have the ideal chance to continue their pursuit of leaders Stockport and recover from their shock home defeat by Tyldesley 11 days ago, which may ultimately cost them the title.

Northwich are also at home and are aiming for fourth place in the Euromanx South Lancs and Cheshire League First Division.

After a poor start to the season Northwich have stormed up the table with much of the credit going to coach Chris Chudleigh, who has already agreed to extend his stay at Moss Farm by another year.

Northwich, who are at full strength, believe three wins out of five remaining games should be enough to take fourth spot.

Park 2nds won 29-0 at Old-

ham 2nds at the weekend to accelerate their late drive for promotion after an early authority was stamped on the game by their new-look pack.

Rick Smith, Gareth May, Harry Stubbs and Joe Ellis scored tries, Mike Morten kicked a penalty and three conversions.

The Winnington Veterans maintained their unbeaten re-cord with a 24-14 victory over Congleton Vets, thanks to a hat-trick from Steve Jones.

Park Junior Colts beat Wirral at home 27-20 (Michael Morten 2, Richard Armstrong, Stephen Lockett tries, Ben Elliot 2 cons, pen); Park U12s beat hosts Northwich 19-7 and drew 7-7 with Sedgeley Park in a triangular tournament at Moss Farm.

Northwich 2nds were beaten at Leigh 21-5 (Ian Haddock try) and the 3rds won at Wilmslow 3rds 55-22.
