WINNINGTON Park's middle-of-the-table clash with Penrith fell foul to the weather on Saturday.
The referee was travelling from Hartle-pool and requested an early pitch inspection and at that stage the Burrows Hill surface was frozen over (though by the time it came to kick-off things had improved sufficiently for a game to go ahead).
The two sides will now try again on Saturday at Burrows Hill with a 2.30pm kick-off. With five players missing on county duty Winnington Park under 15s suffered at the hands of a strong Waterloo side, going down 17-0. It meant they failed to score in a game for the first time in three seasons. The under 12s had a better result at Macclesfield, winning 14-0 thanks to tries from Will Levy and Scott Goulden and two kicks from Alec Butcher.
Winnington Park under 10s took part in four games against their Macclesfield counterparts, winning three and tying one.
The under 9s also played two games against a strong Macclesfield side, losing the first one by six tries to nil and the second one by three tries to nil, while the under 8s drew two and lost one against the same opponents. WINNINGTON Park under 13s are one step away from the Cheshire Cup final.
They travelled to Wirral on Sunday for their quarter-final clash and came away with a magnificent 46-22 victory.
The game was finely balanced early on but the Park forwards dominated the opposition, producing their best performance of the season and creating plenty of opportunities.
They ran in eight tries, scored by Dalglish (3), Morten (2), Ferry, Church and Knowles. Ferry also kicked three conversions.
The victory means the Northwich youngsters now face Wilmslow in the semi-final at Burrows Hill.
