Ellesmere Port 17, Dukinfield 8: PORT reached the Cheshire Plate final for the second time in three seasons on Sunday as they overcame a strong Duk-infield outfit at Dunkirk Lane.

Paul Millington stormed over for Port's first try before Dukinfield replied with a penalty, after intense pressure from their forwards on the hosts' try-line failed to produce a touchdown.

This seemed to demoralise the visitors and John Astbury rolled over the line with a little help from the backs, with Paul Millington converting.

This sparked Dukinfield into life and they replied with a try in the corner, but captain Steve Foster touched down at the death to put Port out of reach and cap an impressive weekend that has revitalised their season.

Ellesmere Port 17 Ashton-on-Mersey 3: Port had already returned to winning ways in the league on Saturday as they brushed aside Ashton.

The scores were deadlocked in a 0-0 stalemate at half-time but Port kicked off the second period with the wind in their favour.

Ashton scored first, capitalising on a mistake and kicking a simple penalty to lead with 15 minutes to go.

But Paul Millington then turned the game on its head, bursting through to score the game's first try and duly converting it.

Paul Watkinson added another try, before Paul Millington touched down for his second to seal the game and give Port the much-deserved victory.

Port Sunlight 3rds 23 Ellesmere Port 3rds 17: A slow start from the visitors saw them trail 15-0 at the break, but several quickly-taken tap penalties from Dom Murphy led to constant pressure.

Tries from Mike Castle and Dan Charvis, one of which was converted by Lee Ryan, cut the deficit to just three points.

Only a late try from Port Sunlight quelled Port's hopes of victory and Dom Murphy was able to cap a fine performance with a last-minute try.
