YOUTH players at Widnes RUFC grasped an opportunity to develop their skills by attending Rugby Football Union coaching courses.
A group of players joined coach Dave Lamb for the two-day Youth Level One course, held over a weekend at Chester College.
Club spokesman Jim O'Neill said: 'The plan is that this will allow the players, some of whom are taking sports studies degrees, the chance to develop experience in the club's junior section and offer support to local schools.
'We consider this to be a chance to develop already strong links with the community and our way of showing our appreciation of the help we have received from Halton Borough Council Sports Development, as well as developing club coaches for the future.
'This year has seen support from various sources, with help from the Awards for All also being particularly supportive.'
