THE fixture list for Widnes RUFC has just been released - and has confirmed the club will be back in Euromanx South Lancs & Cheshire Division One next season following relegation from North Two West.

There is an added incentive for the club to get off to the best of starts by exacting revenge over rivals Aspull, who pulled off a shock cup victory against the men from Heath Road in the first game of last season.

This is followed by a trip to Burnage, and then Dukinfield (home), Hoylake (away) and Leigh (home).

Highlight of this season's fixtures, however, will be the two games against Sale FC, who have risen from the ashes after their split from Sale Sharks.

There is also a mid-October weekend to look forward to in the Isle of Man, when the club travel to face Vagabonds.

Training continues apace and new head coach 'Tank' McDermott is delighted with progress so far.

'We have had more than 40 players training at each session since we resumed on June 1 and some of the younger players like Tom Farmer, Liam Morton and Kevin Farrow are training the house down ready for September.

'The example the younger players are setting is first class and their enthusiasm is feeding its way right down through the club.'

In the meantime, Tank is busy on the recruitment front and hopes to announce further signings soon.

The club has already announced the arrival of Brett Ellis, a powerful South African prop who has played at a high level.
