MOORE RUFC opened their season in encouraging fashion, winning the Plate competition at the Hoylake 10s tournament.
Despite losing heavily to the hosts in the first fixture, Moore recovered well to beat Caldy, Wirral and Wallasey to secure the consolation title.
Moore have a 15-a-side trial match against Prenton at Moss Lane this Saturday and open their season proper at home to Dukinfield the following week.
The villagers will also host representative rugby for the first time on October 12 when the Cheshire Under 18s play North Midlands (ko 2.30pm).
