Carrington 11 Christleton 23
CHRISTLETON made hard work of a victory that on paper should have been a stroll.
Dave Bluff, returning from injury, showed his usual strong running and early in the game ran 50 yards to offload to Dave Wright on the wing to cross the line, and Taylor converted. Carrington hit back with an unconverted try and a penalty to take the lead.
Skipper Chris Lightfoot read the riot act at the interval and in the second half Christleton’s set-plays improved, with Chris Smith finding his jumpers in the lineouts.
Three penalties from Taylor edged Christleton ahead, the hosts replying with their own penalty to make it a tense last quarter.
In the dying minutes Graham Noble was driven over the line to secure the win that puts Christleton fourth in the league and heading for a promotion place.
