THIRD-PLACED Waterloo will be hoping to make a big impact on the Third Division North title race tomorrow when they take on visitors Blaydon.

Waterloo are a point behind second-placed Blaydon with two games in hand.

They expect to have top try scorer Jan van Deventer back after a calf injury with pack men Njike Tchakoute and Dan Smith facing fitness tests on injured knees.

Steve Wands could be in contention after returning from a short stay in New Zealand.

Liverpool St Helens, by contrast, are just hoping to find form after an inconsistent start to the new campaign.

They face derby rivals New Brighton with skip-per Steve Cook certain more successful times are around the corner.

"We have the potential to be up there with the Three North pacesetters," he says.

"We were beaten by Tynedale fair and square but we should have defeated Blaydon and we had the chances to defeat both Fylde and Darlington Mowden Park.

"But we proved we can beat the best when we won at Halifax in the Powergen Cup."

LSH give young winger Nick Royle his full debut after impressing as a substitute in the home win over Darlington.

He takes over from shoulder injury victim Anthony Sullivan.

Orrell, third in Division One, entertain unbeaten leaders Pertemps Bees.

Alex Bennett suffered a back injury in the warmup before last Sunday's Powergen Cup defeat at Bristol, so Adam Jackson stands by. Richard Wilks should recover from a thigh problem.

West Park visit Sheffield, near the bottom of North One.

Chris Myers comes in at full-back for injured leading points scorer Andy Soutar. Tom Gray and Carl Bibby are expected to be available after slight knocks while former England junior Neil Ryan is likely to be on the bench just a fortnight after keyhole surgery on a groin injury.

Joint leaders Wirral and Widnes meet in Cheshire/South Lancashire Division One's game of the day.

The experienced Alan Glover pays his first senior game of the season for visitors Widnes in place of Gareth Riley.

Sefton's Peter McBride keeps his place for the Cheshire/South Lancashire Third Division trip to Newton-le-Willows.
