George Nott helped England make it two wins from two in the World Rugby Under-20 Championship with a 44-0 bonus point victory over Scotland.

Sale Sharks forward Nott, who opened the scoring in a 48-10 defeat of Italy in the first game , retained his starting spot for the Pool B clash at the Manchester City Academy Stadium on Saturday evening.

England led 13-0 at the break with a try from captain Jack Walker which Harry Mallinder converted along with two earlier penalties.

The second half then came to life with a try from Will Evans on his debut for England with Mallinder converting. Johnny Williams followed, securing England’s third converted try and a 27-0 lead.

Jack Singleton brought home England’s fourth converted try taking the score to 34-0. After kicking over a penalty Max Malins closed out the game with the fifth and final try taking the final score to 44-0.

Former King's School pupil Nott, who came through the ranks at Chester RUFC , will hope to keep his place for Wednesday's game against Australia at the AJ Bell Stadium in Salford (7.45pm).

Head coach Martin Haag said afterwards: "I’m happy with the overall performance, it was a full squad effort, scoring tries from different phases and great attacking rugby, particularly from broken play which is what we want to see.

"The scrum also performed well. We knew it was an area we could exploit and we did that in the first half.

"There are still things for us to improve on, we need to keep progressing daily. Some of the rugby from our own line today was fantastic considering the conditions, but the work now is to finish missed opportunities and find more of that ruthless streak.

"It was a good result, Scotland were a little under strength so you have to take that into consideration but we are building a looking ahead to Wednesday.

"We will now focus on Australia. We have to prepare properly as we know they are a dangerous team, they have some great runners and we will need another big performance on Wednesday."
