Oldham Colts 17, Chester Colts 19: CHESTER snatched a thrilling victory at Oldham to end a run of four defeats in the Lancashire and Cheshire League.

Chester started as usual, constantly putting pressure on the opponents and giving the strongest performance but failing to score. Within 20 minutes Oldham had taken advantage of a simple Chester error and had points on the board.

Chester fought back and pressured Oldham but by half time the hosts had converted a penalty to leave Chester 10-0 down.

For the first half hour of the second half Chester looked the defeated side as Oldham increased their points with a further try and conversion.

But Chester stepped up the pace and with eight minutes to go, Scott Ajerlo scored the Cheshire team's first try in the far corner. Danny Mayer was left with a difficult challenge to convert but with a little help from the posts put Chester back in the running.

Within seconds of the restart, Chester's forwards drove straight down the pitch and Tim Padmore scored a second try.

Mayer converted and, with just one minute to go, Chester produced a third try after some brilliant inter-play.

Chester U13s enjoyed a comfortable 74-5 win against Ormskirk.

Chester's tries were scored by Bromley (2), Kass (2) Norris (2), Parkinson, Strain, Bundy, Brownbill, Powlay and King. Kass kicked seven conversions.
