CHRISTLETON'S season finally got the kick-start it needed as they punished Wallasey away from home.

Captain Andy Thomas ignited the Christleton performance with an early try in the corner.

Not to be outdone, vice-captain Chris Lightfoot lived up to his name as he jinked through the defence to cross the line.

Despite scoring early, Christleton kept the pressure on throughout the game and were rewarded with two tries from Ben Cooke and one each for Geraint Jones, Dom Adams and Ian Sperring with Dave Taylor slotting home five conversions.

Wallasey kept fighting against the odds but failed to find a way through the rock-solid Christleton defence, Phil Roden and Graham Noble twice holding up the Wallasey attack on the tryline.

Christleton's combination of attacking flair and tackling in defence showed that all the hard work in recent weeks was well worth the effort.

On Saturday, Christleton are at home against Birchfield, kick-off 2.30pm.
