A DOMINANT forward display laid the foundation for Christleton's first South Lancashire/Cheshire Four win of the season.

The front row of Porter, Taylor and Lampard won the majority of the scrums, with Lee Robinson and Rich Meacock providing the power in the second row.

The first score saw Dom Adams carve his way through the Helsby defence to dive over.

Dave Taylor converted and he also kicked the extra points from Lee Robinson's try.

Helsby responded with a penalty, awarded after a late tackle on ex-Chrstleton player Simon Williams by Meacock.

Christleton's only score in the second half was a pushover try from No8 Laurent Mattalia, who was named man of the match.

Vice-captain Gareth McMullen said: 'It was an emphatic win, displaying champagne rugby at times. I am only sick that we didn't score more points.'

There is a Christleton old boys lunch at the Ring o' Bells (1pm) before the match against Port Sunlight on Saturday, October 29.
