IF LAST week's defeat to Cleckheaton was a blip this result was a shocker, but take nothing away from Morley - they came to Hare Lane with a solid game plan and Chester were unable to cope with their forward power.

The game started well for Chester when Ben Foden charged down a Morley kick and he managed to score a try to give Chester a 7-0 lead.

A King penalty soon after brought the score to 10-0 and then Morley started to exert pressure through their forwards which resulted in Chester giving penalties away at regular intervals.

At 10-9 Morley were now asking all the questions but a penalty by King gave Chester a half-time lead of 13-9.

Morley began the second half in determined mood to reduce the deficit and a rolling maul was just stopped on the Chester line.

From the ensuing scrum their number nine breezed over without a hand on him, and a penalty soon after put Morley 19-13 ahead.

They were now causing Chester all sorts of problems with their ball retention but another King penalty kept Chester within touch, before a drop goal extended Morley's lead to 22-16.

Beckwith was brought on for Chester and it was his powerful run that appeared to ignite the Chester forwards.

It was that man King who slotted another penalty to reduce the score to 19-22.

Morley forwards drove into Chester territory once again and they were given a penalty for offside, which was successful.

With time running out Chester began to throw everything at Morley and the coaches must wonder why it took so long.

They could have saved the game in the dying moments but even the most ardent Chester supporter could not deny Morley their victory.

Next game for Chester is at home to Sheffield on November 15, Kick off 2.15pm.
