WINNINGTON produced one of their best performances of the season on Saturday to further allay any lingering relegation fears.

They need to win one of their remaining two games to be cer

tain of survival and are at Lymm on Saturday. Other results in their favour could also guarantee North Two West rugby again next season.

They were clinical, especially Mike Morten who destroyed the Bowdon defence. He had wrapped up a hat-trick inside the first 40 minutes, knocking the stuffing out of Bowden, who are now more fearful of the drop.

Morten scored on seven and 10 minutes and just before the break, a try of individual flair.

It put Winnington 31-3 in front with Rob Burchell and Ben Richardson respectively going through and on the blindside for their tries.

With the wind in their favour Bowdon had a greater say after the break. They reduced the arrears, but Winnington's victory was never in question.

Andy Barnes and Pete Dennett won clean ball throughout and the Park pack played well as a unit, though the day belonged to Morten.
