NEW BRIGHTON went down 33-22 at Dudley Kingswinford in their last National Three North league game and will finish fifth in the table.

Jon Sewell crossed twice for the Blues and Matt Pennington once. Top league scorer Anthony Birley managed a penalty and a conversion. Paul Brett also goaled once but Dudley with five touchdowns won deservedly.

Caldy beat Penrith 36-0 in North Two West to finish second in the table. It gives them a promotion play-off match at Middlesborough on Saturday.

The Paton Field outfit had too much pace for Penrith and gained tries via Ian Culligan (2), Jake Lyon, Mark Broadhurst and Marcus Coast. Coast also hit four conversions and a penalty to pass 300 points for the season.

Southport turned in a spirited performance to end Leigh's promotion hope with a 15-12 win and maintain their South Lancashire/ Cheshire One place. The Seasiders managed tries from David Snape and Mike Adams plus a conversion and a penalty by Snape. Wilcox gained two tries and a conversion for the losers.

Anselmians played out a 19-19 draw at Wilmslow but will go down if an appeal against the deduction of two points earlier in the season fails.

Wirral rounded off their campaign with a 37-10 success at Wigan, while Warrington enjoyed a 33-20 success against relegated Birchfield.

St Edwards lost their Division Two place as they fell 14-8 at home to Hoylake in a game in which each side had a player sent off.

Ormskirk and Ellesmere Port both won to step over St Edwards. Ormskirk demolished Moore 102-0 with Gareth Little and Andy Montrose each managing four touchdowns in a 16-try romp. Martin Emmett landed 11 kicks.

Ellesmere Port just edged in 6-5 at Crewe and Nantwich, Oldershaw drew 26-26 with Ruskin Park and Orrell Anvils finished 22-5 to the good at Ashton on Mersey.

Wallasey took the Division Three derby at Prenton 12-5 thanks to tries from Phil Thompson and Greg Hughes plus a Dave Hall goal and will finish second at worst in the table.

Collegiate were edged out 8-7 by Marple. Parkonians lost the Division Four promotion show down against Oswestry 22-0, while Mossley Hill could not cope with Helsby and were on the wrong side of a 33-3 score line.

Barry McManus (2) and Martin Blakeborough touched down for Port Sunlight in a 15-12 win over Lucas in a club match.
