PARK are still nervously positioned above the bottom three in North West Two after a late try was ruled out, sealing Park's fate in abysmal Cumbrian weather on Saturday.

Full-back Nathan Archer kicked Park into a 3-0 lead but Aspatria, and their huge pack in particular, quickly began to take control.

Park still failed to clear their lines and the Aspatria forwards eventually scored from a catch set piece.

But as half-time approached, the visitors, expertly marshalled by Mark Warr, forced another penalty which Archer kicked for a 6-5 lead.

After the break Park lost Carl Patterson to the sin bin and the hosts took full advantage, scoring again from a lineout.

Park dominated the last 30 mins and with minutes left Andy Barnes scored a try only for it to be harshly ruled out for a double movement.

The hosts held on for the points and with relegation rivals winning at the weekend Saturday's rearranged match at rejuvenated Bowdon will be a defining moment in WPRFC survival challenge. Kick-off is 2.30pm.
