WEST Cheshire AC youngsters pulled on county vests at the English Schools Cross Country Championships at Temple Newsam Park, Leeds.
Charlotte Roach produced the best result from a West Cheshire member, finishing 10th in the senior girls race behind Cheshire's Heather Timmins who won the national title. The pair helped Cheshire achieve third position in the team event.
Other West Cheshire club members in action included Bradley Edwards and James Ellis, who finished 134th and 157th respectively in the junior boys race in which Cheshire accomplished 14th team spot.
Jelle Verwer was Cheshire's sixth member home in the intermediate boys race and 115th overall, helping his county achieve fourth team position.
Nienke Verwer was 122nd in the junior girls race and fifth home for Cheshire. And Kate Titlow was fifth home for Cheshire and 170th overall in the intermediate ladies race.
Ellesmere Port-based Jason McGonigle, a pupil at Upton High in Chester, finished 60th in the senior boys event, ahead of Helsby High pupil Lawrence Walker, who finished 91st. n Two West Cheshire members travelled to the Coniston 10-Mile Road Race.
Andrew Hetherington posted two hours three minutes 18 seconds for 763rd position, and Mary Radford finished in a time of 2:26.04 for 1,163rd place.
* Forthcoming fixtures include the Salford 10k Road Race on Good Friday (April 6); the Air Products 10k Road Race at Crewe on Sunday, April 8; the Melbourne Trophy Track and Field Trophy Meeting at Wavertree, Liverpool on Saturday, April 14; and the Borders Road Running League sixth round (hosted by Deeside AAC) on Sunday, April 15.
* Entries will be accepted on the night for the Chester Spring Five-mile Road Race to be held on Wednesday, April 4 at the Cheshire County Sports Club, Upton (7pm start).
