BOXING: VAUXHALL Motors ABC produced an excellent show of 12 bouts with one side of the card complete with some sensational Vauxhall victories.
Five of the club's schoolboy/junior boxers all enjoyed the sweet taste of victory with only one unfortunate defeat.
Sam Crossley got Vauxhall off to a flying start with a resounding points win over Sefton's Dave Elder, before Alex Foulkes gained revenge for last season's Golden Belt defeat by thrashing Kevin Ventura of Marsh Lane.
Tommy Shiels made it a hat-trick of triumphs after a points victory over Sefton's Steve McArdle before Martin Jones secured an excellent points win over Arndale's Gary Greenwood.
But there was disappointment for Lee Kirwan, who was caught cold by Sefton's Mick Camron, eventually losing out to a standing count.
Mason Cartwright then made it a five-star show from the Vauxhall Juniors with a powerful performance to see off John Ashton of Shotton.
However the seniors enjoyed a complete reversal in fortune with flyweight Paul Butler the only one to triumph after a superb points victory over 51kg finalist Jusef Malik of Merlin.
Dave Griffiths lost out on points to Lee Collen while Lightweight Mick Illife was too strong for Eddy Atkins.
Long Lane's Lee Gavin then proved too hot to handle for Andy Telford before south paw Steve Schofield beat middleweight Steve Higginson with a stunning left cross punch.
