A HAT-TRICK from Sian Clowes opened up near-rivals Great Sutton Rangers and sent Ellesmere Port into the quarter finals of the Cheshire Girls Under 16s Knockout Cup. Port ran out 6-1 winners.

After a tight first half in which Clowes broke the deadlock on 25 minutes, the game exploded in the second half.

Clowes added her second just after half time and completed her hat-trick with an angled drive into the roof of the net with the keeper well beaten.

Jenny Chung in Port’s midfield was the player of the match, however, and she played a great pass to set up Emma Gray for number four.

Former Everton player Joanne Phelan added the fifth, wrong-footing the defender with a dip of her shoulder and rifling home. Gray then polished off an intricate team- passing move by claiming the sixth.

Rangers got on the scoresheet late on with a shot that was deflected up and over the advancing Leoni Devoy.
