WINNINGTON showed clinical finishing and both goals they conceded were dubious, at Moss Farm on Saturday.

One was from a penalty, literally on the stroke of half-time, the whistle having already been blown, and the other was adjudged to have crossed the goal-line when Park knew better. Goalkeeper Shelley Mills protested so vehemently she was lucky to avoid the sin bin, but neither goal affected the outcome.

A good run by Karen Morgan created a tap-in for Eileen Miller to open the scoring. Morgan claimed the second from a solo run and helped make the third, gathering a Kirsty Robinson pass and pulling the ball back for Helen Jones to score. Morgan also created the fourth goal, finished crisply by Miller.

Park 2nds beat Timperley 4ths 3-0 thanks to Ellie Capstick (2) and Jo Jones. Cath Hewitson was outstanding as Park closed in on promotion.

Saturday: 1sts v Wigan (Moss Farm, 2pm), 2nds away v Bebington.

Lytham St Anne's 4 Winnington Park 2:Park's young side were happy with their performance if not the result on Saturday. They shared the play early on but found themselves behind midway through the first half.

Johnny Kettle and Pete Evans created chances but it was Dennis Topping who equalised. A typical burst through took

the cultured midfielder into the circle and he fired an unstoppable reverse stick shot into the bottom corner.

Park's joy was short-lived as a well-worked penalty corner routine restored Lytham's lead before the break.

Captain Adam Kueres rattled in the second equaliser from a penalty corner and both sides had chances to take the ascendancy. Two late goals, one a penalty, settled the issue.

Park 2nds crashed at Bramhall 2nds 5-3 (Andy Wilson, Simon Pinson, John Lavin), but the 3rds moved into a promotion-chasing third place after thrashing Alderley Edge 6ths 8-4 (Tim Boxall 5, Will Eggleston 2, Paul Eggleston).

Saturday: 1sts home v Northern (2pm), 2nds away v Macclesfield 2nds, 3rds away v Bowdon.
