SWIMMING: Runcorn's William Warburton was in record-breaking form when completing a hat-trick of titles at the Cheshire County Championships in Macclesfield.

He set a new club best of 54 secs at the 100m freestyle to take the 16-year age group and junior titles, following up with the 16-year 100m butterfly crown.

Halton Swimming Club team-mate Katie Holmes, 16, clinched junior and senior 100m breaststroke titles.

Holmes set a new junior county record time of 1:15 on her way to the title and she then bettered this with a senior National Qualifying Time of 1:13 for the senior title.

Katie Scutt, 13, joined her team-mate on the podium after finishing third in the senior event and taking gold at her age group.

Another NQ time came the way of 17-year-old Sarah-Louise Banner who stormed to the senior championship title at 50m freestyle in 27.6 sec.

John Navis took silver in the open-age 50m

breaststroke and Lucy Myler forced her way to a silver for 50m butterfly and bronze at 100m backstroke.

Louise Wallbank returned to form to take bronze in the 15 years' 100m backstroke while Ellie Newby battled hard for bronze in a tough 200m butterfly.

The competition continues this week at Stockport.
