ELLESMERE Port go into Friday’s West Cheshire League Pyke Cup final in fine form.

Port won back-to-back Division One clashes to banish their lingering fears of being dragged into the relegation places.

They triumphed 2-1 at Marshalls last Wednesday with goals from Jonathon Atkinson and Mike Kleinhorn before winning their final game of the league season, away to West Kirby, by the same scoreline on Saturday.

Mark Baldwin and Jimmy Cross netted for Port, whose opponents in Friday’s final are Maghull.

Kick-off at Vauxhall Motors FC’s Rivacre Park home is 7pm.

Vauxhall Motors Reserves, meanwhile, completed their Division One campaign with a 3-1 home loss to Heswall on Saturday.

Capenhurst Villa (Mark Higham) went down 2-1 at home to Manor Athletic in Division Two.

Ellesmere Port Reserves will finish third from bottom in Division Three after they lost 2-0 at home to Belfry.

Jamie Johnson reduced the arrears.

Suffon Melfix were winning 5-2 at home to Grace Arms Reserves when the game had to be abandoned because of a waterlogged pitch.

Every other match in the Ellesmere Port & District Sunday League was postponed.
