Olivia Montez-Brown has bagged a bronze medal at a national competition.

The multi-talented West Cheshire AC member competed in the heptathlon over two days of competition at the England Athletics Under 20 Combined Events Championships in Bedford.

Her individual event results were: 100m hurdles – 15.28s; high jump – 1.58m; shot – 11.00m; long jump – 5.43m; 200m – 26.72s; javelin – 28.71m; 800m – 2:31.13.

Olivia’s total points score of 4,658 was enough to give her a third place finish.

Meanwhile, West Cheshire’s seniors pushed themselves back into title contention with a victory at Leigh.

The club celebrated success in their Northern Track and Field League Division Two West match.

Alice McMahon (13.0 seconds and 26.2), Danielle Erskine (13.7 seconds) and Georgia Barlow (27.1) demonstrated winning form in the women’s short sprints.

Sophie Percival (40.24m) and Emily Ball (27.02m) teamed up for victories in the javelin, and Ball also threw a winning 11.55m in the shot alongside B winner Kelly Baker (11.04m).

Danielle Erskine (5.24m) and Shona Valentine (9.50m) leaped to winning marks in the long and triple jumps respectively.

Alice Barnsley teamed up with Barlow, Valentine, and McMahon for a winning 4x100m relay time of 51.1 seconds, and Barlow, Percival, Erskine and Valentine then combined for success in the 4x400m with 4:32.6.

Isobel Griffin Morris threw the discus to a winning mark of 32.21m and Debra Erskine hit 22.50m for victory in the hammer.

And Ellie Robinson (400m, 800m and 3000m), Lisa Davies (800m), Anest Muller (1500m and 3000m), and Ellen McMahon (1500m) pocketed precious points in the distance races.

Dave McKay (54.67m) and James McMahon (39.33m) teamed up for success in the men’s javelin, and McKay also added a victory in the 110m hurdles (20.1), while McMahon powered his way to glory in the long jump (6.38m).

Mark Hearn finished the B 800m in a winning time of two minutes 5.1 seconds, and Tom Booth clocked a winning time of 66.2 seconds in the B 400m hurdles.

Zac Barnsley (12.0 and 24.5), Alex Kearns (12.6), and Liam Daveron (25.4) teamed up in the short sprints, and Matthew Pagan delivered second spot in the 400m with 51.5 seconds.

Richard Farley finished third in the 800m with 2:05.1, while Andrew Clague and Mark Davies (3k steeplechase and 5,000m) posted valuable points.

Barnsley, Pagan, Daveron, and McMahon teamed up for success with a time of 44.8 seconds in the 4x100m relay, and Pagan, Kearns, Littler and Hearns combined for second spot in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:42.5.

Andrew Clague headed West Cheshire’s contingent at the Deestriders Off Road Grand Prix Series where he posted a time of 28:36, ahead of Anest Muller (31:54), Tony Kennedy (35:20), Mark Povey (37:10), Brian Beattie (40:21), and Dave Brierley (45:55).

Bob Freeman was first home for West Cheshire at the Mersey Tunnel 10k, clocking 42:03 for 73rd position.

He was joined at the event by Neil Carter (232nd in 46:19), and Mark Povey (523rd in 51:18).

Fixtures this weekend include the Cheshire County Schools Track and Field Championships at Victoria Park, Warrington, on Saturday (9.15am), and the Northern Under 20 and Senior Track and Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday at Sportcity, Manchester.
