FIFTEEN West Cheshire AC youngsters sprinted their way to a memorable day at Sport City in Manchester.

A continuous relay initiative to break double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Homles’ best time for 1500m was easily achieved by a combined team of under-13 boys and girls from Cheshire.

Lucy Earl, Kelly Baker, Olivia Montez-Brown, Laura Rigby, Yousef Khalifa, Tom Kellett, Alex Kirk, Matthew Pagan, Daniel Vickers, James McMahon, Elijah Montez-Brown, Charlotte Williamson, Sophie Baker, Georgia Barlow and Gemma Chatterton joined forces with members from Halton and Frodsham to represent a Cheshire North squad.

And the youngsters returned home with a host of individual and team awards after experiencing events such as standing long jump, shot put and tossing the caber.

Four West Cheshire AC distance runners were in action at 13.1-mile road races at the weekend.

Mark Povey and Heather Reynolds completed the Liverpool Half Marathon.

Mark finished in 1:45.10 for 1,044th position and Heather secured 744th place in the women's event in 2:15.40.

Bob Benson and Mike Perchard represented West Cheshire AC at the Wilmslow Half Marathon.

Bob completed the course in 1:31.56 to finish 351st and Mike secured a time of 1:34.21 for 437th position.

Cheshire Young Athletes Spring Relays takes place this Saturday at Marbury Country Park..

West Cheshire AC members wanting to experience jumps and throws should attend a session at the Cheshire Oaks High School Athletics Arena, this Saturday (10am until noon), and on Saturday, April 18 (10am-noon).
