Eight West Cheshire AC members were tested to the limit in London.

Dave Alexander, Cameron Weaver, Ethan Greenland, Siôn and Evan Roberts, Issy and Katie Clarke, and Rory Willson all completed their respective races at the English National Cross Country Championships, staged on a muddy and undulating Parliament Hill Fields course.

Alexander rounded the 12km senior men’s course to post 369th position in the field of 2,005 finishers and clocked 47 minutes 48 seconds. Weaver negotiated the under-17 men’s 6km course in a time of 23:11 to finish 86th in a field of 280 finishers. Siôn battled his way around the 3km U13 boys race to post 13:35 for 90th spot out of 395 finishers.

Issy completed the 4km U15 girls course in a time of 17:19 for 80th position out of 303 finishers, while her sister, Katie, finished 99th out of 235 finishers in the 5km U17 ladies race with a time of 23:06.

Evan clocked a time of 17:53 for 99th position in the 4.5km U15 boys race ahead of Greenland who was 110th in 18:02 and Willson (362nd in 22:56).

Meanwhile, Anest Muller represented West Cheshire AC at the Welsh National Cross Country Championships at Corwen, achieving eight position in the women’s race with a time of 30:39.

Rosemary Rogers represented West Cheshire AC at the Rhyl 10 miles Road Race and won the over-65 women’s title in a time of one hour 23 minutes 15 seconds.

Fixtures this weekend include the England Athletics U15, U17 and U20 Indoor Championships at Sheffield on Saturday and Sunday (10am start); the Port Sunlight 5k (10am start) and 10k (11am start) road races on Sunday; the Sale Harriers Indoor Open Meeting at Sportcity on Sunday (10.30am start); and the High Legh 10k on Sunday (11am start).
