CANOEING: SEVERAL paddlers from Chester Sailing and Canoeing Club went to the May Sprint Regatta at Nottingham where Victoria Swallow was second in the girls' C K1 1,000-metre and 500m races.
In girls' B, she joined Kim Dawson and came sixth in the K2 500m and 1,000m Final One. Kim finished third in the K1 1,000m, sixth in K1 500m and in the K4 paddled with three others to finish third over 500m and 1,000m.
In girls' D, Jenny Swallow and Caroline Rowlands were third in Final Two of the 1,000m K2 race and third in K4 1,000m. Jenny was 11th in the 2.5-kilometre race and Caroline was 13th.
Josh Cowburn raced in boys' D and was third in the K4 1,000 metres with three others and in K1 500 metres he was sixth in Final Three.
Melvin Swallow won the the 1,000m men's C K2 event with J Smythe and was third in the K1 1,000m Final One.
Several paddlers went to Northwich for a marathon race in which Chris Davison was second, Adele Blakeborough fourth, Graham Bulmer fifth, Roger Williams sixth, Bob Owen seventh and Andrew Parkinson ninth.
