TATTENHALL Runners' 2007-08 championship kicked off with club members braving the wet weather at the Erddig Parkland five-mile race.

Of the 14 Tattenhall entries, 10 took home prizes.

The first three home for the club were all veterans. Ian Lancaster came in sixth overall and first in the male veterans 45 class in 29 minutes and 23 seconds.

Simon Ellis was eighth and first in the MV40, running 29.55, while Dave Ratcliffe was the first MV60 home, finishing 20th overall in 33.13.

Mike Whiteside was next in for the team, completing the course in 33.40 to finish 24th.

Dave Oldfield chased him in 26th, posting 33.48, and Tattenhall ladies Alison Smith (32nd) and Laynie Stothart (36th) were not far behind, running 34.48 and 35.11 respectively to claim second and third in the senior ladies category.

Joe Jord made it back in 38.57 placing him 54th, closely followed by Grace Hart, 57th in 39.49.

Lawrie Woodley was second in the MV70 class after getting around in 40.23 and finishing 60th overall.

Debbie Tilsley finished in 84th (45.44), Nancy Artell was 85th (46.22), Tessa Swaine 88th (47.10) and finally Lesley Clague crossed the line 89th in 47.19.
