IT'S been a season from heaven for Paul Turner.
The Castle rider has been declared champion of the East Midlands Racing Association after dominating the series at Mallory Park.
Turner, 32, had to borrow a bike to complete his triumph, at RVF400 to replace his Kawasaki ZXR, which broke down at the previous meeting and could not be rebuilt in time.
Turner said: 'I had been top all year, but it went down to the last meeting and I finished second twice, missing a first place by a hundredth of a second, which was enough.
'I would have liked to have ended with a win, but I did well under the circumstances.' He broke the 400cc lap re-cord for Mallory, won four races and finished every one in a podium position.
Turner, an auto-electrician, finished his season, only his second, off at the Anglesey Grand meeting at the weekend and is aiming for a national competition next year.
He said: 'I've done better than I expected.'
