MEMBERS of Chester Triathlon Club continued their impressive form at the weekend, with several notable individual performances.

At the Coniston Standard triathlon, Claire Suitcliffe secured fifth in the women’s race, winning her age group.

In the men’s race, Alan Cronin finished second in his age group.

The Shropshire Triathlon in Ellesmere provided further success, as Gill Mead took first place in her age category.

The Ellesmere event also saw Chester Tri stars Bree Sutcliffe and Carole Coole claim third in their age groups, with Ruth Isaacs overcoming injury to reach fourth in her section.

In the men’s event, Iain Murray finished ninth overall and fourth in his age group with a time of 2.03:15.

Close in pursuit were Mark Gittins (2.13:50), Ian Atkinson (2.21:37) and Malcolm Sloane, who came fifth in his age group after rounding the course in 2.27:16.

Meanwhile, another group from the Chester club took on a different challenge – cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats in two weeks to raise money for six charities.

Between them they cycled 11,000 miles, fixed a dozen punctures and broke one wheel.
