ELLESMERE Port Rugby Club held a charity sevens day to raise money in memory of club stalwart Alec Dale.

Former player and club secretary Dale passed away recently and the club organised the tournament in his honour.

Veterans, current players and colts all took part and raised more than £300 for the British Heart Foundation.

EPRUFC’s Paul Watkinson said: “The teams were mixed up so they all had some vets, players and colts in there.

“It seemed a fitting tribute to a man who devoted most of his life to the club.”

Port are currently in pre-season training for the South Lancs/Cheshire Three season. If you are interested in trying out, senior section training is at 7pm every Thursday at Whitby Sports and Social Club on Dunkirk Lane.

Junior teams train on Sunday mornings and throughout the week.
