PORT matchman Ray Jackson excelled in the Crewe and District Winter League match on the Marsh Lane length of the Shropshire Union Canal.

He left Nantwich having finished third on the day and helping carry Willaston Blacks to third on the day and 12th in the overall standings.

His catch was made up of small stuff and weighed 2-6-11. Dave Griffiths made 1-2-0 and Peter Cross 0-9-0.

Willaston Reds were not so lucky, finishing 12th on the day and sinking to 12th overall. Top weights were caught by Peter Cooke on 1-6-11 and Trevor Jackson on 0-11-12.

Wirral and Merseyside Carp Forum are hosting an angling exhibition at Bromborough Civic Centre in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on Saturday, February 23.

Doors open at 7pm and there will be tackle exhibitions, slide shows and angling holidays to be won.

Rick Keeley took skimmers and roach to red maggot to weigh 9-9-0, better than Mark Greasley with roach and bream for 7-7-0 and Keith Williamson with 4-2-0 of roach.

Gary Bough found success in the Thursday open match at Lingmere Fishery.

His carp haul weighed 38-0-0 and saw off Steve Openshaw with likewise for 21-5-0 and Chris Openshaw with 6-0-0.

Steve Openshaw won Lingmere's Saturday match with carp to weigh 22-4-0, proving too good for Alan Dewhurst on 17-12-0 and Billy Gore with 16-0-0.
