CHESTER athletes battled it out with the best the rest of the county has to offer on Saturday.
The Fallibroome track in Macclesfield played host to the Cheshire Schools Track and Field Championships.
Four West Cheshire AC members pushed themselves into the county spotlight, with the quartet of Emily Fisher, Lauren Hunt, Nick Rushton and Amir Walwyn all claiming English Schools standard performances.
Emily launched the javelin to a mark of 29.73m for victory in the junior girls competition, beating runner-up and clubmate Danielle Bentley, who achieved 25.62m.
Lauren cemented her place in the Cheshire squad for next month's All England Schools Championships with a double success story in senior throwing events.
Lauren hit an English Schools standard distance of 11.03m in the shot, and added a victory in the discus after finding a mark of 32.82m.
Nick Rushton and Amir Walwyn secured English Schools standard times in the 200m.
The Chester duo grabbed times of 23.9 and 24.1 seconds respectively in the junior boys 200m.
Andrew Whitton, James Callaghan, Martin Jones, Tom Price, Rachel Stoakley, Stephanie Blackwell, Emma Leigh Heighway, Michael Lyness, E Reid, S Shanin Ajero and R Treloar also clinched victories representing the Chester and Ellesmere Port district teams.
Whitton achieved 12.56m in the inter boys triple jump, Callaghan hit 39.07m in the inter boys discus, Jones won the senior boys long jump with 5.87m, and Price posted a senior boys 200m time of 23.3.
Stoakley clocked 12.80 seconds in the inter girls 100m, Blackwell posted 48.8 in the inter girls 300m hurdles, Heighway rounded the senior girls 1,500m for four minutes 47.8 seconds, and Lyness won the junior boys discus with 34.10m.
Reid grabbed success in the junior boys 80m hurdles with 13.6, Shanin Ajero hit 9.19m in the senior boys shot, and Treloar won the senior girls 100m in 13.2.
