HOCKEY: DEESIDE Ramblers Ladies were in complete control against Nelson as they ran out 3-1 winners.

Equally strong in defence and attack, they went 1-0 up through a penalty corner strike by Becks Clarke.

Nelson equalised but Deeside stamped their authority on the game after the break and Clarke made it 2-1 with another short-corner strike.

A goal in open play by Rachel Dathan sealed the win.

Deeside's men were hampered by illness and injury throughout their home clash with Didsbury Northern.

They turned in an outstanding performance but paid the price for a lack of numbers as Northern claimed a 1-0 win with a last-minute goal.

Kieran Harris and James Wilson were impressive for the Ramblers.

Deeside's second team battled valiantly but succumbed to a 4-2 loss at Didsbury.

The visitors had Neil Lamont and his son, Ben, is attack and both players got on the scoresheet.

For the second week running, it was the job of Ramblers' third XI to show where the winning began.

They enjoyed a 3-2 victory over Brooklands.

Mark Goodyer, John Mackay and Phil Winward were the Deeside marksmen.

Ben Rogers and Alan Lewis performed well but could not prevent Deeside's fourth string from losing 1-0 to Northop Hall.

Fifth-team captain Pete Hale scored twice and Martyn Lear was also on target as Deeside over-powered Bebington 3-1. nDeeside Veterans defeated Bowdon 3-1 with goals from Rupert Yeoward, Jamie Allen and Jimmy Guest.

Max Ankers starred in what was an impressive display.
