GYMNASTICS: THE Chester area boasts two gymnasts who will be on rival teams when the Commonwealth Games begin next month.
Bunbury's Beth Tweddle will represent England, while her City of Liverpool club-mate, Saltney's Melanie Roberts, will wear the red vest of Wales.
Both gymnasts competed at the Manchester Games four years ago, where Beth won one gold medal and two silvers.
The 20-year-old has been named in England's squad on the strength of her outstanding performances last year, when she won bronze on the bars at the World Championships in Melbourne and was crowned British champion for the fifth time.
Melanie, 17, is fresh from winning three golds and two silvers for Wales at an international tournament in Dallas, Texas.
