PROMOTION beckons for Tattenhall Runners’ men as they sit on top of Division Two of the North Wales Cross Country League with only one race to go.

They affirmed their place at the summit in the fourth race of the series at Wrexham.

Good weather and good ground underfoot greeted the Tattenhall team as 14 runners took on the six-mile course.

In-form Simon Ellis led the club home in 22nd place and the team all remained close to score 258 points and climb to the top of the division.

They will need a similar result in race five to secure promotion to Division One.

Tattenhall Ladies also did well in Wrexham, finishing second behind Telford. Marilyn Kitching was second lady finisher while Alison Smith came 12th, Sara Atkinson was close behind in 13th with Amanda Davies in 23rd.

This result brings the ladies up to third in Division One, behind Wrexham and Eryri Harriers.
