DESPITE some wet weather in the days leading up to Chester Golf Club's Captain's Day, the event still proved to be a success

The club's green staff did a tremendous job in preparing the course and the weather relented for the duration of Saturday's competition.

The winners were John Chisholm and Ian Spruce with 43 points, with Stuart McIntyre and Jeff Woodcock (42) claiming second on a countback from Jim Redfern and Owen Evans.

* Ian Boothroyd came out on top in the Mond Cup bogey competition at Chester GC.

In the competition, players played against a score for each hole with the winner being the person who won the most holes.

Boothroyd won nine, followed by Tom Foden and Sam Parry who both won four holes. Foden won the play-off.
