SWIMMING: CITY of Chester club swimmers returned from the Cheshire Championships in Birkenhead with a clutch of medals.

And 27 clocked times good enough to get them into the Northern Counties Championships with five securing qualifying times for the National Championships.

Four girls obtained nqts led by Lucy Worrall, 13, with six, plus six gold medals, two silvers and a bronze which earned her the senior and junior championships.

Sarah Eaglesham, 12, had four nqts as well as four golds, two silvers and two bronzes and 13-year-old Hannah Oldfield had one nqt and six gold medals, two silvers and a bronze.

There was an nqt for Sion Roberts and eight gold medals and a silver, while Lauri Simkiss took two silver medals.

Fourteen-year-old Gemma Clethro had one gold, two silvers and two bronze medals and Michelle Roberts, also 14, collected one silver.

Leading the way in the boys events were Tommy Hall and Tom Allen, both aged 12. Tommy secured national qualifying times in six events and won three gold medals, a silver and two bronzes.

Tom had one nqt plus four golds and two silvers.

Jamie Penny, 16, won a gold and a silver, Jason Boylan, 15, took one gold, as did Ryan Oldfield.

Jon Winters, 14, collected two bronze medals and Matt Humphreys, also 14, took a bronze.

Silver and bronze went to 11-year-old Jon Armstrong, Chris Williams, 11, took silver and bronze and 10-year-old George Watts took two gold medals and a silver.

Hannah Phillips, 12, took two gold medals, two silvers and five bronzes.
