ANGLING: JOHN Statham set a hot pace in Saturday's Tarvin Sands AC open match.

He landed carp up to 9lbs and some bream for a total of 12lbs 1oz, to beat John Woodrow's 56-12-0 of carp up to 13lbs and Phil Hardman with 51lbs.

The previous Tuesday's club match on home waters went to Ellick Peters with 40-8-0 of bream and tench from Phil Crimes who had a similar catch weighing 40-4-0 with Martin Holding third with 37-8-0.

The Wednesday match for disabled and senior citizens went to Phil Crimes with 20lbs of tench and bream, from Dave Furlong's 13-12-0 and Chris Hargadon's 12-12-0.

The Thursday winner was Crimes with a carp-based 66lbs from Holding's 55lbs and Ray Iball's 49-2-0.

Ellick Peters took the Monday open match with 22-2-0 of carp and bream, from Hardman's 20-2-0 and John Woodrow with 13-12-0.

Steve Boyd, of Fisherman's Tackle, set a Hampton Springs Fishery record when he landed 150-10-0 of carp with team-mate Ray Williams third, 75-15-0.

Fisherman's Tackle member Steve Carrier was second in the Heronbrook Fishery match on Monday with a carp-based 109-8-0.

Malcolm Dawes was the winner of the Airbus, Broughton AC match on the SU Canal at Cheswardine with 17-12-0 chub and skimmers, from Richard Parry's 16-11-0 and John Sinkinson's 16-9-8.

Ellesmere Port British Legion AC went to Lingmere Fishery where Andrew Fletcher won with 26-12-0 of carp and chub from John Ryder and John Woolley, who had 16-12-0.

Willaston's Jamie Hughes was close to a double in open matches at Lingmere Fishery. He won last Thursday's contest with a carp-based 37lbs ahead of Lee Saville's 34lbs and Phil Ashdown's 28-8-0.

And on Saturday he was second with 40-10-0, behind winner Dave Randles jnr who had a 54-15-0 mixture. Third with 38lbs was Mike Flanaghan.

Chris Hargadon led in the Helsby S&SC AC match on the BICC pools with 13-15-0 of crucians and chub, from Malcolm Lightfoot's 13-3-0 of common carp and Steve Furfie's 2-13-0 small roach.
