SWIMMING: WINSFORD ASC swimmers made repeated trips to the podium at the Holywell Sprint on Saturday and came home with 10 gold, seven silver and two bronze medals between their 26 finalists.

Top performer was Middlewichbased Ashley Walton (13) who set two new meet records and came away with four golds and a silver.

Another high achiever was George White who swam his way to three gold and two silver medals, achieving personal best times in every stroke.

Lucie Tetley gained a brace of gold and silver and a bronze as well, while sister Abi claimed one gold, a bronze and two silver.

Other finalists were Nigel Davies, Ryan Morris, Lisa Millington, Jack Millington, with Samantha Gallimore, Abby Sullivan and Eleanor Capstick gaining personal best times.

Ashley Walton, the Tetley sisters and James Cowburn all train with the Vale Royal Performance Training Group and are currently training in preparation for the National Championships.

Meanwhile, Terry Cowburn (15) and Natalie Jones (16) won their respective Cheshire County Open Water Junior 3k Championships on Saturday at Bala Lake, leading the field from start to finish. This was the inaugural championship. Their times were 44mins 41secs and 44mins 43secs respectively.

Additionally and perhaps most exciting is that Natalie has been selected to represent GB in the pool, at the Catholic Schools International Championships in Malta next weekend. She swam in the same event last year in Seville, where she won two bronze medals.
