ATHLETICS: DANIELLE Bentley was rewarded for a busy weekend's work as she scored success in a schools race on Saturday and then produced an award-winning display for her club 24 hours later.

The youngster won the girls' race at the Ellesmere Port and Neston Primary Schools Cross-Country Series on Saturday at John Street.

She then secured third position overall in Sunday's Cheshire Cross-Country League Final Round, staged at Macclesfield.

Danielle, who had finished fourth in the opening round at Frodsham in December, and fourth in the second round staged at Stockport last month, achieved fifth spot in the U11 girls' race at Macclesfield.

Also in action for West Cheshire AC on Sunday were four veteran men who earned third position overall.

Graham Earlam steered the quartet to the finishing line at Macclesfield by finishing 18th, one place ahead of Graham Jenkins.

Paul Price negotiated the 8.4k course to finish 26th and John McGill came in 36th.

Bradley Williams took part in the U11 boys' race at Macclesfield and finished a creditable eighth after rounding a difficult 2.7k course.

Kerry Riley and Rebecca Grimes ran in the U13s girls' race staged over 2.7k, coming in eighth and 14th respectively. Entries are now being accepted for WCAC's Open Indoor high jump and shot-put competitions at Stanney High School's sports hall on Sunday, April 4.

All age groups, from U13 boys and girls to senior men and ladies, are being catered for, and entry is on the day.
