MOTOR SPORT: Chester-based Jamie Stanley will drive for Medina Sport in the Walter Hayes Trophy meeting at Silverstone next month after winning the Three Sisters Racing School's annual scholarship in Wigan.

Stanley, 22, will follow in the footsteps of previous winners including British Touring Car driver James Pickford and Formula BMW driver Matt Howson when he joins the Medina Sport Team for the forthcoming WHT meeting, which is to be broadcast on Sky Sports.

Stanley, who will be driving Medina's Van Diemen RF00, said: 'I am over the moon to be given this chance by the Aintree Racing Drivers School and Three Sisters race circuit.

'Without it I would never have been able to make the step up to cars.'

To win the scholarship prize, Stanley had to out-drive 12 other rivals in the two-day final assessment. The final included laps in the circuit's MG ZR160 saloon cars followed by practice and assessed laps in a Formula Ford single seater.
