SWIMMING: NORTHWICH ASC swimmers shared in a massive 285 personal best times at the club championships on Sunday.
The figures made sure the success was distributed throughout the contestants, but happiest were girls' captain Hannah Evans and 12-year-old Matthew Tasker, who both set five new championship times.
Hannah, 14, of Comberbach, showed her versatility by winning the 100m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and medley.
Matthew collected the same honours, but over 50m.
Secretary Jack Denton said: 'They are both excellent swimmers and good club members. Hannah is one of the best swim-mers Northwich has ever had. She is in the Vale Royal performance group and has the ability to go on a lot further in the sport.
'She always attends and never shirks training. But she is approaching the crucial age when many swimmers are lost to the sport. Hopefully we can keep her.'
Two winner's medals were claimed by Edward Ford, showing he is as promising in the water and he is on it. Edward is one of the talented rowers emerging from the Grange School Club and is a National Schools champion.
But the competitions for 14-year-olds were all cancelled. There is a dearth of swimmers in that age group and Mr Denton added: 'We plan a few changes to give this age group more time, but our biggest problem is football. That is often the priority for lads.'
