SWIMMING: JESSICA Poyser swam to the fore at the Great Britain Disability Sport Championships at Sheffield.

The 13-year-old Green-bank Special School pupil, who is a member of the Cheshire Penguins, won four golds and set a national record in the 100-metre freestyle.

She also won the 50m free and 50m and 100m breast-stroke events but was pipped into second in the 50m backstroke.

Her 11-year-old brother, Tom, contested the same events in his age group and set five personal best times.

Tom and Jessica live at The Coppice, Sandbach. nThe Winsford Amateur Swimming Club are back where they belong and have elected Lisa Millington and Terry Cowburn as skip-pers.

Lessons and sessions have started at the Winsford pool again after the baths were closed for three months for the removal of asbestos and repairs.

The club completed the formalities of last season at their annual presentations on Thursday. Awards were: Best Improvers (25m): 9 years, Jessica Gallimore, David Beeley; 10yrs, Jessica White, Robert Hainsworth; 11yrs, Abby Sullivan. (50m) : 11yrs, Ellie Ebbitt, Brendan Ion; 12yrs, Kimberley Stubbs, Michael Almond; 13yrs, Annabel Broome, William Cummings; 14yrs, Emma Almond, Mathew Hoather.
