OWEN Godbold is looking forward to an exciting year in 2013 after securing a place on the GB junior snowboarding squad.
The 13-year-old from Backford was handed a place on the GB freestyle team following a successful trial.
It means he will travel abroad from January onwards with the GB squad, attending training camps around Europe.
He has also begun training for an event which takes place in Tignes, France, in March called ‘The Brits’.
The week-long festival is one of the biggest competitions of the year for British riders.
In preparation for The Brits, Owen has been training three nights a week on the indoor snowboarding slope at the Chill Factore in Manchester.
The Bishops’ High School student has also started weekly trampolining sessions to perfect his rotations.
