RICHARD Remmerlee showed why he is going to be a player to look out for this season with a starring display in the exciting Chester & District League opener between defending Riley’s Division One champions Christleton B and newcomers The Q Bar A.

Remmerlee was pitted against reigning merit and scratch winner Wayne Amey, who knocked in a break of 49 only for his young opponent to take advantage of a missed red to clear the table.

Andy Woods fell to captain Brian Morgan to give the visitors a commanding lead before Andy Mumford got Chrisleton back into the match with some good potting against Mark Jarvis.

Neal James swept aside Neil Cardus to restore Q Bar’s two-frame advantage and Simon Moulton, a former merit winner with Broughton Wings, sealed a superb 4-2 success by edging a close encounter with Sean McDonell after new boy Ian Watson easily overcame Russell Jones.

Steve Williams fired a 60 break and Eddie Jenkins knocked in 54 in Conservative A’s 6-0 home win over Christleton A.

Gareth Allen was Broughton Wings’ sole winner in their 5-1 home loss to Ellesmere Port Conservatives. Impressive St Saviours B matched that scoreline at Upton RBL A.

The Q Bar B showed their intentions with a 5-1 opening-game Olympic Trophies Division Two home triumph over Conservative B.

Captain Joey Wynne led the way with a good win over Martin Peaker which included a 36 break.

Utd Services B marked their league debut with a 4-2 defeat at home to Waverton, for whom Chris Connelly, Dave Ankers, Paul Ireland and Aaron Washburn did the damage. M Elston and K Diamond replied.

Liberal drew 3-3 at home to Upton RBL B as did St Saviours A at home to Upton RBL C.
