THE Q Bar A extended their lead at the top of Chester & District League Rileys Division One with a 6-0 success at United Services A.
The only other championship-chasing team to win were Ellesmere Port Conservative, who won 4-2 at home to Chester Bus with Colin Jones, Kevin Thomas, Dave Sharples and captain Alan Platt victories. Sean Futcher and Chris Read offered the replies.
Conservative A shared a thrilling 3-3 draw with Wings.
Barry Charker beat Jamie McMahon before Steve Williams doubled the home side’s advantage by getting the better of Mark Taylor with a 38 break.
Darroch Mackie reduced the deficit by sweeping aside Jason Taylor only for Pat Haycock to then go down to Craig Thelwell despite a 33 break.
Wings were not finished yet, though, and young J Bradford edged out Eddie Jenkins on the black before Gareth Allen fired a 65 break to defeat Andy Short.
St Saviour’s B (Paul Ellis, Kevin Maxwell, Alex Ferguson) drew 3-3 at home to fellow high flyers Christleton B (Tony Cook, Stuart Hardman, Chris Hesketh), as did Rileys at home to Upton RBL A.
In Olympic Trophies Division Two, there were impressive 4-2 wins for Upton RBL C (John Griffiths, Sean Growney, John Gerrard, Alan Tomlinson) and Conservative B (Mike Davies, Martin Peaker, Dave Burns, Pat Fergus) at home to St Saviour’s A (Dave Lyth, Colin Osborne) and away to CCO (John Cunningham, Geoff Powell) respectively.
