CHRISTLETON duo Wayne Amey and Finn Gallagher claimed the Chester League’s Wrights Pairs title with a victory over Conservatives’ Eddie Jenkins and Steve Williams.

Jenkins played well in the first frame to take the lead but Amey won the next two frames.

In the deciding frame the Cons pair needed a snooker from the last three balls to salvage victory. Jenkins potted the blue and, despite several gallant efforts to get a snooker, Amey took the pink for the game and match.

The fate of the Ron Woodcock Memorial Trophy was also decided as Paul Cross beat John Wells 2-0.

In Riley’s Division One, Christleton B as good as clinched the title by defeating St Saviour’s B.

Alan Lea gave Andy Mumford little chance and put Saviours one up. Sean McDonnell levelled for Christleton against George Brady before Wayne Amey put the home team ahead and Neil Cardus made it 3-1 with his defeat of Paul Hughes.

Chris Hesketh was narrowly beaten by Saviours’ Kevin Maxwell but

Tony Cook played best against league leading scorer Steve Proctor, winning to give Christleton a 4-2 win. Cons (Ellesmere Port) went to Chester Bus and raced into a 4-0 lead. Colin Jones, Sean Steadman Brian Reynolds and Alan Platt all won. Gordon Dugdale and Mike Griffiths hit back too late for Bus.

Riley’s won the first two frames at Upton RBL through Lee Stephens and Ray Cheers Jr.

Upton’s John Over Jr beat M Jones but Alan Cheers, Gareth Sudlow and Ray Cheers Sr sealed a 5-1 win.

S Williams gave Snooker Centre the lead against Conservative Chester, but Neal Jones, Steve Williams, Eddie Jenkins and Jason Taylor gave them a 4-1 advantage. Kevin Roxburgh then defeated Andy Short to make it 4-2.

United Services won the first four frames against Liberal A, with Martin Walsh beating Phil Sullivan with the help of a 40 break. Steve Ankers and Tony Hughes won the last two frames for Liberal to finish 4-2 losers.
