SNOOKER Centre were no match for Christleton B in the Chester League as the Olympic Trophies Division title chasers racked up a 5-1 win.
Christleton won the first five frames, but the ever-reliable Kevin Green salvaged some pride by winning the final frame against Andy Mumford.
St Saviour’s B increased their chances of finishing in the top two with a 5-1 victory over Conservative B. With Conservative A only drawing against Broughton Wings, Saints have opened up a gap between second and third place.
St Werburgh’s continued their winning ways with yet another success, this time against United Services. They ran away with a 5-1 verdict and Lea Stephens was at his break-building best again, knocking in a 62.
St Werburgh’s United had a solid 5-1 victory over Liberal A, for whom Anthony Barnes was the only winner.
Alan Cheers put St Theresa’s one frame ahead against Upton RBL A but his side went on to lose 4-2.
Glen Sheil levelled the scores, beating Chris Earl, and then Shane Stokes had a good win over John Over in a black-ball thriller. But that was the end of the scoring for Theresa’s as Chris Dixon beat Ray Cheers junior, Glen Morley defeated Lol Johnson and Kevin Gibson overcame Ray Cheers.
There was an exciting match at Upton in the Haz-Decs Division as Upton RBL B – without a league win to their name all season – drew 3-3 with Chester Bus. Leo Jackson opened for Upton but lost to Gordon Dugdale, then Kevin Conway defeated Paul Cross to put the Busmen two frames up.
It soon became 2-2 as Mike Wilkes got the better of Damien Futcher and B Sharratt defeated Colin Morris. Nigel Middlehurst put Transport ahead again and with the unbeaten Shane Futcher on last it looked ominous for Upton. But John Gerrard turned in a magnificent potting display to earn his team a share of the spoils.
Second-placed Christleton A pulled a point back on the leaders with a 4-2 victory over Liberal B. Terry Willcock opened the scoring for Liberal by defeating Kirk Shone, but then it all started to go wrong for them as Dave Ankers lost to Mattie Done, Barry Charker had a brilliant 113-1 win over Dennis Morgan, Mark Cook beat Peter Beswick and John Mooney accounted for Tom Horne to give Christleton a 4-1 lead. Gareth Crebbin pulled a frame back for Liberal by beating Mike Craig.
John Morris gave Conservative C the lead against CCO but victories by Harold Hewson, Geoff Powell, John Cunningham and Phil Heaney put CCO in an unassailable position. Kevin Harris brought it back to 4-2 by overcoming Colin Hargreaves.
St Saviours enjoyed a good 4-2 success against improving Waverton, while Broughton Wings B were held to a draw at Upton RBL C.
